Crusoe

Consistently delivers high protein content

  • UKFM: Group 1
  • Market Options : UK breadmaking / UKP bread wheat for export
  • OWBM Resistance : No
  • Sowing Date : Normal
  • Rotational Position : First & second cereal
  • Soil Type : Light & heavy soils

Since its introduction in 2012, it is no surprise that Crusoe has become one of the miller’s first choice varieties.

This Group 1 variety offers growers an excellent level of security, combining good agronomics with good sprouting resistance.

Crusoe has shown consistent yield performance in some very erratic weather conditions. The variety has a good agronomic profile with good disease resistance ratings and an inherently higher grain protein content than its competitor lines in the group,  although brown rust requires monitoring.

Millers have seen increasing volumes of this variety through the plants and are happy with its results – giving good crumb structure and baking performance.

Crusoe has shown good yield consistency over years, regions, rotational positions and soil type.

Crusoe has very good grain quality with a high stable hagberg falling number. It is a short, stiff strawed variety.

Meets the specification for UK breadmaking and UKP for export.

What Our Experts Say

What Our Customer's Say

“At a time when prices are low, it is reassuring to know that we can grow a wheat that not only yields but delivers the quality premium that makes a difference to the bottom line.”
Farmer, Funtingdon, Chichester
Joe-Adams---Crusoe-winter-wheat
“We...moved over to Crusoe about 9 years ago and now it is the only variety we grow across the farm. Crusoe has performed very well for us, and whilst the variety doesn’t have the highest yields of the Group 1’s, we can rely on it to consistently produce the protein spec of 13% that we are looking for.”
Joe Adams, Arable Farmer, Northamptonshire
