The variety has shown consistent yield potential in the key malting barley growing areas of the east and north regions.
LG Diablo has very good physical grain quality with high hot water extract; a trait heavily desired by the end user. It also has low grain nitrogen and a specific weight better than Laureate. The variety has been given full approval for both malt distilling and brewing by the Malting Barley Committee (MBC), which is an interesting prospect for growers and end users.
LG Diablo has a high tillering capacity for suitability in a blackgrass situation.
